The Mudslingers

Various experts predict that the up-coming presidential election will be the dirtiest in history. The mudslingers who worked for Bush against Kerry are now ensconced into the McCain camp and are said to be chomping at the bit waiting to go after Obama with gusto.

Considering the fact, that McCain himself, when he ran against Bush in the 2000 Republican primary, was the target of this group and suffered through one of the dirtiest and most vicious attacks in political history, it is hard to believe that he would sanction such tactics against another human being, for throughout all of McCain’s political life he has always conducted himself in the tradition of Annapolis and  first and always been a gentleman and so it is quite possible that he will not condone the kinds of slime throwing tactics that have been the signature of the Republican methodology since Bush entered politics in Texas.

However, it is also quite possible that the Republican hierarchy in their frenzy to maintain power will bring such tremendous pressure on McCain that he will be forced to embrace the kind of slime throwing methodology that Karl Rove and other Bushies have hewn into an art form.

People must urge the Republican leaders to avoid this kind of a campaign but rather demonstrate to the world that politics in America indeed reflect the better values of democracy and not  a far below the belt, mud slinging charade typical of tin horn dictatorships.
