The End of the Grand Old Party
By Guest Editorial Writer James Heth

Once upon a time many years ago there was a Grand Old Party called The Republican Party. The party was popular because it represented fiscal responsibility, consideration for the working man and small businesses. The Taft Hartley anti trust laws and labors right to organize were just two of the great issues that emerged from the Republicans. But, then at the very end of the century this Grand Old Party was taken over by a group of empire minded zealots who had merged with fanatical evangelical Christians who were determined to thrust their moral beliefs down the throat of every American. The empire seekers by crooked means elected a president who was a war-monger who imagined himself to be a war hero and by lying to the American people he started a war in the mid-east which alienated America from the rest of the world and cost billions of dollars and more than four thousand young American lives. By providing massive tax cuts for corporations and the extreme wealthy and other stupid conservative policies the country was brought into a wide spreading recession and millions of Americans lost their homes. Also, because of certain tax policies many businesses moved jobs overseas and thousands of Americans were left jobless. So, the American people learned the hard way that The Grand Old Party was really not so grand after all and threw them out of office along with their imagined war hero and America became America once again.
