The Republican Empire Builders
By Guest Editorial Writer James Heth

The elite group of right wing nuts that swept into power by riding Ronald Reagan’s coattails believed that it was their destiny to build the United States into an empire in the image of the Roman Empire. They believed too that they should be the heads of a ruling class that they as well as their descendants would lead forever. It was a grand scheme fostered by the likes of, George Bush, Richard Cheney, Donald Rumsfeld, Jack Abramoff, John Ashcroft, John Bolton and a host of CEOs from the largest corporations and a group of other high level Republicans. The first order of business they decided was to create a super wealthy ruling class with themselves or their descendants to be in control of forever. To that end within 20 years they transferred 80% of the wealth of the nation into the hands of 13,000 of the wealthiest families in the country. They managed by scurrilous means to get George Bush into the White House. He set about at once getting us into an illegal war in the Mid-East and turning most of the rest of the world against us. As a result of their absurd fiscal policies the nation in a very short time was brought to the very edge of total financial collapse. In order to advance their schemes they needed to centralize power into the White House and limit or destroy the role of Congress. They needed to either ignore or override the constitution and an apathetic public sat by and did nothing. Eventually the illegal war in the Mid-East became so costly in American resources and lives that the public rallied behind opposition politicians and the dream of an empire was turned into dust. However, the damage done to
the country was so severe that experts finally realize that it is going to take many years to restore America to
its former stature.
