Twenty Nine stores opened in Mariposa this week. They are all under one roof in the
Mariposa Market Place, located in the Old Trabucco Store in Historic Downtown Mariposa, 5024 "B" Hwy 140.
The Marketplace has 4,000 square feet with 29 individual shops and 32 vendors. The stores offer arts, crafts, jewelry, antiques, treasures, photography, plants and collectibles. They are open seven days a week from 10 A.M .until 8.P.M. Monday - Saturday, and 12 A.M. until 7 P.M. on Sundays.
The Market Place is owned and run by Marci Perez. Marci and her husband retired to
Mariposa in 2000. Before that she worked in the Aerospace Industry.
Since coming to Mariposa she has worked at several part time jobs including the school
district. She loves the old Trabucco Building and hated to see it empty. She made a decision and in less
than 2 months got the Market up and running with a full complement of vendors. There is now a waiting list
of 20 vendors that would like to display their wares.
The old building is a great historical setting. The huge old rock wall on the right
as you enter makes a perfect backdrop. The pressed tin ceiling, old windows and cast iron staircase are
beautiful. The lighting and all the decorations in each "store" make for an outstanding display. Several
of the merchants in town have booths with items from their stores with directions to their larger
establishments.
