The following is the recorded message on the Mariposa County
Event Information Line:
You’ve reached the Mariposa County Event
Information Line. Today’s date is Sunday, July 27, 2008. The time is approx. 1140 a.m. This message is being disseminated
by the Mariposa County Sheriff’s Office to assist people in attaining information about the Telegraph Fire.
The following areas are under current
evacuation order and the roadways are closed to the public: Foran, Avoca Vale, Alta Vista and Grosjean, Lake view,
Serpentine, PennyRoyal, French Camp.
The following have been previously order to
evacuate. Mosher Road, Telegraph Road, Whitlock Road, Cory Pine Road, Sherlock Road, Salamander Road, Colorado Road,
Lakeside Road, Davis Road, Rumley Mine Road and Rancheria Creek Road.
The following areas are being issued a
pre-evacuation advisement: The North side of s/r 49 from Mykel Oaks Road to s/r 140 and 49 North intersection, s/r 140
North Areas to through the Midpines areas continuing to the Briceburg area. In addition, the North County residents of
residing in the areas of DogTown Road, Texas Hill and Wagner Road and Schilling Road.
Regarding the north county residents of
Dogtown, Texas Hill and Wagner be advised that CalFire will be involved in an operation in your area today. We will have
sheriff’s office personnel in your area. You will also note a presence of CalFire equipment.
We are not currently evacuating residents in
this area at this time, however, if you reside in the pre-evacuation advisement area, please prepare to evacuate upon notice
and be prepared to leave your residence immediately upon notice by emergency services.
Evacuations from this area will be dictated
by fire movement and behavior.
If you reside in the pre-evacuation notice
area and have special needs, such as large or small animal needs, medical needs, transportation needs, please report this to
sheriff officers in the area, or phone the sheriff’s dispatch center at 209.966.3615.
Please exercise driving safety in the fire
areas of Mariposa County.

The fire is burning in the Merced River Drainage, on both sides of the river. The fire is burning with a rapid rate of
spread in multiple directions. Accessibility problems due to steep, rocky and isolated terrain.
A Community Meeting is being planned for tomorrow night at the Mariposa High School. CAL FIRE Incident Command Team #8
has taken command of the fire. |
