August 31, 2016 - Mariposa, California - The Beat Harvest music education program is offering two scholarships for Mariposa High School students. These scholarships last for one year and cover 75% of the tuition fees for weekly music lessons in Mariposa or El Portal. Students who receive a scholarship will only have to pay the remaining $5 per lesson.

Over the year, students will develop the skills they need to perform and write music on guitar, bass, drums, ukulele or electronic instruments. They will also learn how to record their music, organize live shows and promote their work so that when they leave school, they will have all the skills they need to bring their musical projects to life.

The Beat Harvest music education program was established in 2010 by Adam Burns, singer, guitarist and songwriter with the band Bootstrap Circus. The mission of the program is to inspire people of all ages to make music and teach them the skills they need to do so. Biannual Beat Harvest live shows provide an opportunity for students to perform at local venues in front of a live audience. They choose what to play, get together with friends and family to rehearse and then share their talents with the community.

If you are a student at Mariposa High School and would like to apply for a Beat Harvest scholarship, please complete the application form on the Beat Harvest website (www.beatharvest.com/scholarship). The deadline for applications is Monday, September 12th 2016. If you would like to contribute to future scholarships, you can make a donation on the same web page.
