Mariposa RodeoMay 1, 2018 - The Mariposa Friends of the Fairgrounds Foundation along with the Rodeo Royalty Committee announces that the 2018 Mariposa County Fair Rodeo Royalty Applications and Rules are now available for this year’s contest.

The contest offers three divisions and is open to young ladies ranging in ages from 6 to 23 that are from Mariposa, Madera, Merced and Tuolumne Counties. Divisions are Junior Princess (Age 6-10*), Princess (Age 11-15*) and Queen (Age 16-23*) (*age as of December 31, 2017).

The Rodeo Royalty Committee will be hosting an introduction meeting for contestants on June 3rd, 2018 at 3:00 P.M.  Application and fees are due on or before 5:00 P.M. Sunday, June 3rd. Applications are available by emailing mariposarodeo@gmail.com or can be found online at:

MariposaFair.com, MariposaFoF.com, and MariposaMtnRiders.com.

Applications can also be picked up at the Mariposa County Fairgrounds office.

Through the summer the contestants will be fundraising and honing their skills for the competition day which takes place at the fairgrounds on Saturday, August 11th, 2018. The horsemanship portion of the competition for all divisions will start at 8:00 A.M. and this event is open to spectators. The Queen and Princess contestants will then have private interviews and all contestants will come together that evening for the Royalty Dinner where they will compete in their final elements which include modeling, poise and impromptu questions. The queen contestants will also present a speech based on this year’s fair theme “Ridin, Rockin and Livestockin”.

The contest is administrated by the Mariposa Friends of the Fairgrounds Foundation a nonprofit organization that helps assist the Fairgrounds with critical improvements and maintenance allowing them to stay open now and for future generations to enjoy.
