The Housing Authority of the County of Stanislaus is announcing the opening of the Housing Choice Voucher Program Waiting Lists, for the Counties of Amador, Calaveras, Mariposa, and Tuolumne. The Housing Authority maintains a separate wait list for each respective County.
The HCV Program is a rental subsidy program which assists very low-income elderly, disabled, and family households with paying rent in the private rental market. Typically, a program participant pays between 30-40% of their income towards the rent and the HCV Program subsidizes the difference directly to a private landlord. Eligibility is based on income and household size. The income limits are posted on our website for review.
Due to the limited funding availability, the Housing Authority will be restricting the wait list opening to those applicants who qualify for the Local “Residency Preference”, which means that only residents or persons working within Amador, Calaveras, Mariposa, or Tuolumne counties will be admitted to the wait list for the county in which they reside.
The Housing Authority wait list opening will be held from: Tuesday, January 20, 2015 through Monday, January 26, 2015.
Applications may be obtained by contacting the Housing Authority at (209) 557-2030 or by visiting our website at: www.stancoha.org during the wait list opening dates specified. You will then be sent an application in the mail. Applications will not be available for pick-up at the Housing Authority office.
The Housing Authority has not opened the wait list for the HCV Program since it assumed administration of the HCV Programs for the Counties of Amador, Calaveras, Mariposa, and Tuolumne in January, 2012. We anticipate a large response to this event. The Housing Authority encourages all those who may be eligible to obtain an application as it is unknown when another wait list opening may occur.
To avoid large crowds, the Housing Authority will not be accepting completed applications at the Housing Authority office. All applicants will be provided with a pre-addressed envelope to send their completed application in to a Housing Authority post office box.
