Charlotte Blake Alston, Storyteller, Librettist, Poet and Author Returns to the Mariposa Storytelling Festival

Charlotte Blake Alston by Deborah BoardmanTransport yourself to the far corners of the world to places where home cares and responsibilities vanish in utter absorption as you board your flying carpet to visit another continent and another dimension.  Your hostess is Charlotte Blake Alston, storyteller, librettist, poet and author.  What better way to spend an afternoon or evening but in the enchantment of her tales of faraway lands to the accompaniment of ancient and traditional instruments, among them the Djembe, Mbira, Shekere or her 21-stringed Kora.  All for your pleasure to be held in historic Mariposa and Yosemite National Park, at the Mariposa County Arts Council's, 29th Mariposa Storytelling Festival, March 11 - 13, 2016. 

Ms. Alston has produced and directed many orchestral works, associated herself with several major orchestras, the Philadelphia Orchestra, the Orchestra of St. Luke’s, the Cleveland Orchestra and the Boston Symphony.  Her clear, musical voice has provided the narratives for both the charming Carnival of the Animals by Camille Saint-Saens, and Scherezade by Rimsky-Korsakov.  Charlotte has been featured at Storytelling Festivals across the nation and around the world, as well as several TV documentaries including Plenty of Good Women Dancers, the Peddie School, Safe Harbor and Crosstown.
