2016 CoyoteFest adCOYOTEFEST … A Howl of a Great Time!

On Saturday, September 24th, this year’s CoyoteFest, Coulterville’s largest annual event, transforms a quiet, gold rush era town into a boomtown for the day!  A day of FREE Family Fun!!!

A parade down Historic Main St. kick’s off the day at 10 a.m.   Alberta Garrett, great granddaughter of the founder of the towns historic Hotel Jeffery, (born in Yosemite Valley) will be this year's Grand Marshall!

ENTRANCE TO BOTH THE PARK AND THE CAR SHOW IS FREE!

There are no admission fees to enjoy the music and entertainment in either the park or on Main St. and there is free parking in the lots on the corner of Park Lane and Broadway.

The Coyote Hill Band will be belting out their great music in the park throughout the day.  Mr. Stilts will also be back.  There’s pony rides, a Bounce House, face painting and a Kids Korner with games and prizes.

Main St. Happenings

Main St will be closed to through traffic, with vintage, classic and sports cars filling the area as part of the Car Show (10 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.), with everyone getting to vote for their “fave”.  The Main St. merchants, as well as street vendors, will be offering Howlin’ great specials on their wares. There will be 3 free showings (11:15 a.m., 1:45 p.m.; 3:15 p.m.) of Road Runner cartoons at the Second Bench Gallery, with free popcorn at each.  And there will be 3 free wild and wooly Western comedy melodrama performances by the Sierra Nevada Guns 4 Hire reenactors down near the Magnolia Saloon. There will also be a strolling “gypsy” violinist.

Coulterville Park’s “Where It’s At”

The Coulterville Park will be filled with live music; the Kid’s Korner, bounce house, pony rides, and “Zippy” electric rides; over 50 booths sporting art, jewelry and crafted items, kettle corn; jams and jellies, baked goods, hamburgers ‘n hot dogs, enchiladas, soda, water, beer; candles, CoyoteFest souvenir T-Shirts and much more! 

Lot’s ‘n Lots of Raffle Prizes!

This year’s array of great raffle prizes will benefit the Greeley Hill School parent’s group.  Prizes are flowing in and include all sorts of gift certificates, a flat screen TV, a tablet and much more!

The 50/50 horseshoe contest gets started early in the day.  If you have not signed up online in advance and slots are still available, you can sign up on-site.

31st Annual Coyote Howl Contest

Beginning at 12:30 p.m. the 31st Annual Coyote Howl Contest gets started. Contestants can sign up in the park until their round gets underway.  There are four categories:  Pup; Adult; Pup-Pack and Combo-Pack.  There are cash prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place this year!  Registration (for 1 or for a “pack”) is just $5!

Music & Entertainment

In between sets of the Coyote Hill band, we’ve squeezed in some great local entertainment: the LDP Line Dancers take the stage at 10:45 then at 11:45, Coulterville’s’ finest will belt out their rendition of the Broadway hit, Brother, Where Art Thou?

Roast Beef Dinner Tops Off the Day

For those of you too tired to cook dinner after a full day of fun and sun, beginning at 4:00 p.m., just across the street from the park at the Methodist Church you can enjoy a great roast beef dinner.
