Mariposa Butterfly Festival is almost here! Get your Butterfly Hats ready for the Festival's annual Butterfly Hat Contest. This year's runway of artistic talents will take place on Friday, May 5th, 2017 at the Mariposa County Fairgrounds, in Bldg. A. Door Registration begins at 5:30 p.m. and ends at 6:00 p.m. for those who haven't pre-registered. Taste of Mariposa will begin serving local restaurant food samples at 6:00 p.m. with a no host bar. Donations are $5.00 per person. The Taste of Mariposa and the Butterfly Hat contest is an adult only fundraiser event to purchase butterflies. 
The categories for this year's contest are: Elegant; Creative (unique and imaginative); Funny (whimsical and funny); Outrageous; and new category Dark (goth and Dia de los Muertos or ‘Day of the Dead’). Prizes awarded for each category including People's Choice Award.
If you haven't registered, now's the time! Hat Contest Registration Forms can be downloaded from the MariposaButterflyFestival.net and mailed in, or picked up and dropped off, at Yosemite Beads R Us store located in downtown Mariposa.
