Reminder:
Mow before 10:00 a.m., but never when it is windy or excessively dry.  Metal blades striking rocks can create sparks and start fires.  In wildland areas, spark arresters are required on all portable gasoline-powered equipment.  This includes tractors, chainsaws, weedeaters and mowers.  Keep a shovel and fire extinguisher near and ready to use.  Don’t drive your vehicle onto dry grass or brush.  Hot exhaust pipes and mufflers can start fires that you won’t even see – until it’s too late!  Keep a cell phone nearby and call 911 immediately in case of fire.  Remember the home you save may be your own.

Mariposa County Fire Department has positions available for firefighter, medical first responder, and various support opportunities.  $10 per call stipend!  No experience necessary – we will train you!  Interested? Call (209) 966-4330.
