SST-LTRI have heard it said that Kris Casto's friendship with a current supervisor could make her undesirable to some for the District 3 job.  My knowledge of her past convinces me that she will choose the greater good for the community even over a dear friend's opinion.

When Kris was on the Los Altos City Council, she had two close friends, both former mayors, walking buddies, and mentors.  There was a hotly discussed, crucial vote before the Council--the sale of a lot in town for a massive movie theater and retail chain.  There were arguments that this was the best use of the land for the highest sale price possible.  Her two friends supported the movie theater choice.  Kris thought that the three story, 300 seat complex would be an overwhelming structure, five times larger than any other downtown building.  It would change the small town ambiance of charming, Old Town Los Altos.

The vote was taken—a tie.  Kris, as mayor, held the swing vote. She voted NO, the theater was not built, and Old Town Los Altos retained its small town character.

I believe Kris Casto will be an independent thinking, fair Supervisor who keeps Mariposa's best traditions at the forefront.
