SST LTRMay 24, 2018 - As a resident of District 3, I recommend voters choose Heather Bernikoff as Supervisor on their mail in ballot or on June 5 at the polls. Heather is honest, communicates respectfully and has a demonstrated record of working with integrity for Mariposa people.

A constant volunteer, she's tutored students at the high school, and supervised field trips that introduced students to college as an option. She also jumped in to work in the classroom at Catheys Valley Elementary during the recession and encouraged other community members to do so.

Through her consulting business, she brought professional trainers in grant writing to Mariposa. This helped to develop local nonprofit capacity to compete for funding, supporting their important work.  As a volunteer on the Education and Outreach Committee of IRWM, Heather partnered with other local groups to lead workshops that educated people during the drought on their well, water quality and health, water saving and the County dry well program.

She helped organize and was MC for the recent standing room only Family Story Telling program. This continues the Storytelling in Mariposa K-8 schools, so popular with students, teachers and parents who know it inspires their children.

Heather drives people to the Bay Area for surgery, never asking for gas money. She just smiles and says “Its a hybrid and electricity's from our solar panels.” I want someone who honors our past but also understands how to evaluate modern technologies that can benefit our community. She would make an excellent Supervisor.
