Dear Editor,
SST LTRWe are fortunate to have two outstanding Museums in Mariposa, especially the convenience of the Museum and History Center located in town, which is operated solely by Volunteers, with the exception of the two very capable employees who cover the office seven days a week, including school field trips and tours. Over the years the Museum has grown to be a major "must see" for the tourists visiting our town, It has also been rated by the Smithsonian as one of the best small Museums west of the Mississippi.

Unfortunately time changes with generations and the Museum is currently facing a major problem of not having enough Volunteers to remain open and serve the Public from 10:00 A.M. until 4:00P.M. everyday. This is a serious situation to not have staffing to serve our visitors, with some form of entertainment, while they are in town.

Comments from visitors at the Museum, are very positive!

Volunteering as a Docent requires only 3 hours of your time either A.M. or P.M. and it is a pleasant experience to meet and greet people from over the world.

Having Volunteered for the past fifteen years I can certainly recommend the "time well spent."

I appeal to all, male and female, who are able, to come forward and Volunteer. Three hours once or twice a month is a rewarding experience. I hope some of you will consider this seriously, as you will be providing a great service to both the Museum and to the Community!

Ruth Sellers,
Mariposa
