There seems to be a new use of the words “Administrative Leave” that up to now in my interpretation meant a person being placed on temporary job suspension with full pay, during which time certain administrative or investigative work took place.

I am puzzled.  Four department heads this year have been placed on “Administrative Leave” with full pay and benefits AFTER their “resignations” were accepted.  In each case the “administrative leave” was to take effect for a certain time, after which their final departure from the job has been set.  No provision for resumption of duties is anticipated a far as we are given to understand.

I have felt my education in communication via the use of English up to now was adequate, but this has me completely baffled.  Not only that but this “Administrative Leave” is extraordinarily costly to the taxpayers and as such we are entitled to some explanation.
