Thank You Mariposa

Mariposa, you continue to amaze and inspire us with your enthusiasm and generosity! We are approaching the end of another American Cancer Society (ACS) Relay for Life fund raising year, and Mariposa has once again set the bar high for our neighboring communities. For being a humble mountain district with, generally, not much to spare, you certainly demonstrate the ability to help those in need.

Unfortunately, we have all been touched by cancer, either directly or through a family member or friend. The ACS is at the center of the fight for a cure and is the leader of providing aid to those battling this disease and their supporters. To do all of this, ACS needs money, and Mariposans regularly give more per person than many of the communities that surround us. We don’t say that to cast shadows on our neighbors, but to shine a light on our residents for all that they do and give. (If our neighbors want to take that as a challenge to raise more, then that is okay too.)

We give hundreds of hours to the cause because we know we live in a community where people will give what they can.  We all hope that one day cancer will never have the power to take away more birthdays.  Thank you Mariposa from all of the ACS Relay for Life volunteers!
