Spam AlertI have received several emails lately which try to get me to click on an attachment. The scheme to use an infected machine to send out emails to everyone on the infected machine’s email list.
Action:
If an email from a friend contains a message anyone could have written without knowing either of you plus an attachment, don’t click on the attachment. Delete the email.
I just received an email allegedly from the IRS about a refund. They even put a legitimate IRS address in the body of the message hoping that would add enough credibility that I would click on the attachment. When I went past the sender listing of “Internal Revenue Service” and checked the sender’s actual email address, it definitely was not the IRS.
Action:
Same as before; don’t click on the attachment and delete the message.
