Dear Editor,I would like to personally thank John Carrier for the thoughtful, comprehensive work he has performed on behalf of Mariposa's citizens. He spends an enormous amount of time reviewing the Supervisor meeting materials, studying the issues and working with a broad range of individuals in order to make good decisions. He treats his constituents and the voters with respect both in terms of his polite communication and his accessibility to all citizens - understanding that the work of an elected official is not a 9 to 5 job. I appreciate his decisions that have supported agriculture, public health, the arts, law enforcement and infrastructure, such as the airport and the fairgrounds. Despite a recent tragedy in his life, the loss of an adult child, which is unimaginable, he still performed his work and showed up prepared. This is how seriously he takes the job of representing Mariposa County. In a rapidly changing world, governing even a small, rural county is increasingly challenging. There are legal, ethical, regulatory and economic questions that are incredibly complex. I am grateful that John Carrier is willing to serve again as Supervisor. He is a leader we can trust to do the work with integrity, completeness and has the ability to understand what he is learning. John Carrier has proven himself. He has worked hard for all of us. I hope the voters of District 5 re-elect John Carrier.
