When I moved to Mariposa along with my horse in 1971, I thought I would be able to live a rural lifestyle indefinitely.  I fell in love with the area as a youth when my parents and grandmother used to bring me here camping.  However, after becoming more involved in local politics and attending the Board of Supervisors Meetings, I have serious concerns that our rural way of life is in jeopardy.  I ask the citizens in District 3, especially the long standing ranchers, what legacy do you want to leave?  Can you accept the urbanization of Mariposa and still maintain your endangered cowboy and ranching lifestyle? 

Kris Casto came from the San Francisco Bay Area.  She appears to want to be part of the country, but what is she really bringing to the table?  This continually happens in other communities where citizens from urban areas start to come in and very benignly become part of the community through the supervisor process. The next thing the long standing residents know is that their private property rights are threatened with prohibitive and unnecessary rules and regulations.  This could happen here.

Marshall Long’s deep roots in this community and his long time residency in Mariposa, make him a well qualified supervisor for District 3.  Agribusiness is a perfect fit for Mariposa, and Marshall has the experience and background to address the political barriers that stand in the way of creating a robust economy here.  He is open and willing to listen.  He has been active in preserving our local history and traditions.  He is community minded, and has an intimate connection with the citizens of Mariposa.

We want to make sure that Mariposa does not become urbanized.  Vote for  Marshall Long for District 3 Supervisor.
