June 24, 2017 - Sacramento – Senator Andy Vidak (R-Hanford) on Friday introduced Senate Joint Resolution (SR) 9, which supports a pathway to citizenship for undocumented individuals who choose to serve in the U.S. Military.

SJR 9 urges Congress to support House Resolution (HR) 60 by Congressman Jeff Denham (R-Turlock). HR 60 would provide undocumented immigrants, who are qualified for enlistment in the Armed Forces, a path to be lawfully admitted to the United States for permanent residence after their honorable service in the U.S. Military.

HR 60 has over 200 cosponsors in the U.S. House of Representatives and is rapidly gaining bi-partisan support in Congress. SJR 9 recognizes the importance of immigrants in the foundation of our military and expresses the State of California’s support for HR 60.

“Our country was founded on immigrants who came to this country, fought for freedom, and raised their families here. HR 60 continues that great tradition and strengthens America’s core values of service and love for our country,” said Andy Vidak.

Vidak will request a vote on SJR 9 as soon as possible in both the State Senate and State Assembly.
