Some are reading for work. Some are reading for fun. Either way, reading is good for us in all kinds of ways.

California's 1,100 libraries are challenging themselves to sign up 1 million readers for summer reading programs between June 21 and August 31, 2017.

The California State Library invites you to be one of those 1 million readers – and be entered in a drawing to win a prize.

Prizes: We have 3 touchscreen, WiFi-enabled, glare-free Kindle E-readers to give away this year, thanks to a generous donation from the California State Library Foundation.

Here's all you do to join the challenge:

That's it. Every completed book represents one chance to win.

The more books you read, the more chances to win!

Winning entries will be drawn on August 31 and prizes distributed in early September.

And every reader involved is counted as part of the #onemillionreaders challenge.

Must be a California resident to enter; all others are still encouraged to read books.
