sugar pine railroad theft madera county sheriffs office 1

July 16, 2017 - The Madera County Sheriff's Office is asking for your help.

Earlier this week, the following items were reported stolen from the Sugar Pine Railroad in Oakhurst. We are asking for the public's help recovering these priceless artifacts.

• One antique circa 1900s locomotive draw bar was stolen from outside the museum. Note: this item is extremely heavy.

• One antique locomotive ID badge was stolen from inside the museum. The badge is brass and displays "3306 LIMA LOCOMOTIVE WORKS INCORPORATED FEBRUARY 1927" on the front. Note: the badge was actually on a train that once ran on site and is a important Madera County history artifact.

If you have any information regarding the whereabouts of one or both of these items, we ask you to please contact Madera County Sheriff's Office at (559) 675-7770. Callers may remain anonymous. Please help us recover these important pieces of Madera County history.
