July 17, 2017 - The Detwiler Wildfire in Mariposa County began on Sunday afternoon at around 3:56 P.M. at Detwiler Road  across from Hunters Valley Road about 2 miles east of Lake McClure. As of Sunday evening the fire was at 2,500 acres with no containment.

CAL FIRE Late Sunday Evening Update 11:30 P.M.

On Sunday, July 16, 2017 at approximately 4:00 PM the CAL FIRE Madera-Mariposa-Merced Unit received a report of a wildland fire on Hunters Valley Rd. with the cross of Detwiler Rd. in the area of Hunters Valley in Mariposa, California.

The fire is approximately 2500 acres and is 0% contained.

Evacuations are in place for Hunters Valley Rd, Detwiler Rd., Cotton Creek Rd., Hunter Valley Mountain Access Rd., Bear Valley Rd. from Cotton Creek Rd. to Hwy 49N and Hwy 49N from Pendola Garden Rd. to the Fremont Fort.

Road Closures are in place on Bear Valley Rd. at Mt. Gains Rd., Hwy 49N at Pendola Garden Rd., Hwy 49N at the Fremont Fort, Detwiler Rd., Cotton Creek Rd., Hunters Valley Rd., and Hunter Valley Mountain Access Rd.

The Red Cross has set up an evacuation shelter to Mariposa Elementary School located at 5044 Jones St. in Mariposa.
