July 19, 2017 - Prather, CA. - The Fresno / Madera County Resource Advisory Committee (RAC) is seeking applications for projects that would enhance forest ecosystems or restore and improve land health and water quality on the Sierra National Forest and other nearby lands. The RAC will have nearly $200,000 to recommend on projects for Fresno County and $80,000 to recommend on projects for Madera County this year, through the Secure Rural Schools and Community Self-Determination Act.

The RAC works closely with the Forest Service to recommend projects that will benefit national forest lands within Fresno and Madera counties. These projects include the control of invasive species, natural resource education, pre-suppression Fire Wise information and education, recreation, wildland fuel reductions, strategic fuel breaks, and wildlife habitat native species protection.

Projects must be located on National Forest System lands in Fresno County, Madera County, or on nearby lands if the project will benefit national forest resources. Projects can be completed by Forest Service personnel, through partnership agreements or by open-bid contracting with individuals and corporations.

Applications are only accepted online at https://cloudapps-usda-gov.secure.force.com/FSSRS/CreateNewprojectpage. The deadline for accepting proposals is July 31, 2017.
