Music on the Green continues into its regular schedule after last week’s cancellation during the Detwiler Fire evacuation. Brought to you by The Mariposa County Arts Council and its many fine sponsors, the 26th season continues with free concert performances by Before Perils on Friday, July 27, and Saltwater on Saturday, July 28 at the Mariposa County Arts Park Stage at 7:00 p.m.

Before PerilsBefore Perils on Friday, July 27

Fresno’s Before Perils returns to the Art Park stage Friday evening playing Gypsy-Jazz acoustic music, blending original cross-fusion styles into a well-loved sound. This experienced band implements a variety of influences, from Peruvian gypsy music using the cajon and violin, to classic acoustic guitar. The Arts Council encourages all community members to relax to free, fresh music after the long week.

For more information about Before Perils, visit them on Facebook, and listen to their music on ReverbNation.com.

SaltwaterSaltwater on Saturday, July 28

Saltwater makes their Music on the Green debut Saturday evening, pulling eclectic influences into their own swampy southern sound.  For this concert, all donations and tips collected will be given to the Mariposa Community Foundation for Detwiler Relief.

For more information about Saltwater, visit their website, Facebook page, and listen to their music on ReverbNation.com.

Residents of Mariposa will also formally thank the heroes of the Detwiler Fire and celebrate the strength and resilience of the community with a special presentation recognizing the efforts of the Mariposa Sheriff Department, CalFire, CHP, Caltrans, and PG&E during the show. All attending the Saltwater concert are welcome to bring cards of thanks and signs to show firefighters and emergency personnel appreciation for their efforts.

The Detwiler Fire burned more than 80,000 acres, destroyed many family homes, and caused thousands of residents of the Town of Mariposa to be evacuated for several days. The evacuation order was lifted over the weekend and residents have re-opened businesses and are actively supporting those who suffered loss while welcoming visitors back to the region.

The Mariposa County Arts Council and the Yosemite Mariposa Tourism Bureau encourage all to come out for both concerts, support the community, restore the energy of Mariposa’s downtown, and enjoy the clean evening air with free, live music.

A complete schedule of the remaining Music on the Green concerts for the 2017 season can be found at MariposaArtsCouncil.org.

All performances begin at 7:00 p.m. at the Mariposa County Art Park, located on Hwy. 140, between 4th and 5th Streets, in historic downtown Mariposa, CA. Free parking on 5th Street along the Creek Walkway to the Park, also providing handicapped access.

The shows are free to the public – tips for the performers will be solicited, encouraged, and appreciated.
