Music on the Green – the free summer concert series brought to you by the Mariposa County Arts Council and it’s many fine sponsors – rolls on into the last three weekends of the 2017 season presenting the return of Bodi 601 on Friday, August 11, and on Saturday, August 12, the debut of Cloudship at the Mariposa County Art Park stage.
Bodi 601 on Friday, August 11th
Back by popular demand, Bodie 601 take their name from the ghost town in the Eastern Sierras where they are homebased. The debut last year of this self-described “bluegrass-ish” group playing original songs featuring 3 and 4 part harmony vocals, as well as the high lonesome, western sound of Amy Grahek’s electric violin, really impressed the crowd. Grahek wowed the audience at the Art Park several years ago – fronting her former band, The Coreshots – with her fiddling finesse and dynamic stage prescence, and we can expect more of the same Saturday. Cloudship on Saturday, August 12th
Since forming in the summer of 2013, Cloudship has self-released 3 projects (2 EPs and an acoustic LP), sold thousands of units, and played hundreds of shows throughout the state, easily making them one of the hardest working indy duos in California. Now, poised to release their first all out LP, they have found and perfected a sound that toes the line between roots-rock and modern rock. Heavily influenced by grunge, alternative, and prog-rock, Cloudship use multitasking and fluid songwriting to create a sonic experience that you would expect from twice as many members. The dynamic duo’s debut at the Art Park stage will be their last show before embarking on a national tour. All performances begin at 7:00 p.m. at the Mariposa County Art Park, located on Hwy. 140, between 4th and 5th Streets, in historic downtown Mariposa, CA. Free parking on 5th Street along the Creek Walkway to the Park, also providing handicapped access.
These concerts are free to the public – tips for the performers will be solicited, encouraged, and appreciated.
