August 13, 2017 - On Saturday, August 12, 2017 the Madera County Sheriff's Office reported at approximately 12:30 P.M, Madera County Sheriff's Office Deputies on Bass Lake arrested an operator of a personal watercraft (PWC) for Boating Under the Influence (BUI) with a minor passenger.

The subject, a 43 year old male, had a Blood Alcohol Level of 0.24. He was arrested and booked in at Madera DOC for BUI and Child Endangerment.

The Madera County Sheriff's Office would like to remind the public that driving under the influence while operating a vessel is equally as dangerous as operating a vehicle.The legal limit for operating a vessel is the same as a vehicle - 0.08. Drivers/operators found to be above the legal limit will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
