Snow Impacting Mountain Passes in Sierra

September 22, 2017 - Tioga Road (continuation of Hwy 120 through the park) has reopened. Snow is still possible today and tonight, so call (209) 372-0200 (then 1,1) to double check on its status before attempting to use the road. Watch for icy spots!

It's not yet winter, but we're already seeing snow fall in the Sierra and temporary closures of the mountain passes. Ebbetts, Sonora and Tioga passes were all closed as of Friday morning.

Sonora Pass/State Route 108 (SR-108) and Tioga Pass/SR-120 opened later in the day, though Ebbetts remains closed. There is not ETO for Ebbetts Pass.

Motorists can follow QuickMap.dot.ca.gov for real-time road conditions 24 hours a day. If you are driving in the Sierra, be prepared: Be sure to have plenty of fuel; an emergency bag with food, beverages and other material should you get stranded.
