October 10, 2017 - During the month of September, Sierra Foothill Charter School staff worked with students on the meaning of the Core Virtues of respect and responsibility. On Friday, September 29, 2017 SFCS had its first Core Virtues Assembly to recognize students who exemplified the traits of respect and responsibility since the start of school.
SFCS 3316Fantastic job to these students: Ian Beutel-DePrano, Malte Salonen, Chloe Jean Blagg, Aiden Pierson, Darragh Duffy, Deacon Lopes, Trenton Davis, Echo Solis-White,  Milo Harrison, and (not pictured) Michael Parks.
SFCS 3309Principal/Superintendent Mindy Bolar led the assembly, first welcoming students and families and then talking about the Core Virtues program which focuses on one or two character traits per month, allowing staff to get into details with students on what the traits mean and why they are important.
SFCS 3312Teacher Teena Starchman's third and fourth graders sang a song about respect and responsibility.
SFCS 3313Teachers, like Andrea Contreras, took turns talking about the behavior of the students they chose that lead to their being recognized at this assembly. Students were called up one at a time to receive a certificate from their teacher and to shake the hand of their teacher and Principal Bolar.

The assembly also included SFCS's monthly drawing. Throughout the month, staff members give tickets to students who they see going above and beyond, whether it be extra stellar behavior or helping out in some special way. Students have the option of taking the ticket to the office for a small prize from the treasure chest or entering the ticket in a jar for a monthly drawing of a large prize. This month's prize was a really nice kite.
SFCS 3321Congratulations to Aiden Beutel-DePrano whose ticket was picked this month.
