October 14, 2017 - Gusty winds increased early this morning forcing new evacuations and a sparking a new large wildfire in Lake County. Currently more than 10,000 firefighters are battling 16 large wildfires that in total have burned over 214,000 CalFireacres. Approximately 100,000 people have been evacuated from the fires. These fires have been extremely destructive with 5,700 structures estimated to have been destroyed. While crews continue their search for missing people, the death toll has risen to 35.

Red Flag Warnings remain in effect across Northern California due to strong north winds, which have already increased fire activity. Those winds are forecast through the day and expected to decrease by late tonight. A Red Flag Warning is also in effect in Southern California through the weekend.

Residents are urged to be prepared for wildfires now. Learn more by visiting  www.ReadyForWildfire.org.
