October 23, 2017 - (Pictured l-r): Marilyn Saunders, representing Mariposa Community Foundation, recently accepted a $1,000 check from Pat Perry, Soroptimist International of Mariposa Service Committee Chair, at the recent Detwiler Fire Relief Benefit at the Fairgrounds on October 1, 2017.  Also pictured is Soroptimist Charter Member Barbara Parker-Darragh, and Mariposa Community Foundation members Kevin Cann and David Butler.  Soroptimist’s donation will be earmarked by the Foundation to benefit women and girls affected by the Detwiler Fire.

Soroptimist is an international volunteer organization for business and professional women who work to improve the lives of women and girls in local communities and throughout the world.  In addition to participating in international projects, the Mariposa Club achieves this mission locally by giving scholarships to graduating seniors, presenting monetary awards to women that are the heads of their households seeking further education, and donating funds and services to organizations, including Mountain Crisis, Ethos, Manna House, Helping Hands, and the John C. Fremont Hospital Foundation.
