Start the holiday season off by joining the Coulterville Fire Brigade for the traditional lighting of the community Christmas Tree, 7:00 P.M. at Coulterville Fire Station 26 at the corner of Hwy. 49 and 132!  Hot chocolate, S’mores, Bonfire!

Christmas in Coulterville
Saturday, December 16th will be a fun, inexpensive and festive day in Coulterville.  It starts early, with the Rebekah’s Holiday themed Breakfast from 8:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M., then Santa will touch down at 12:00 noon, catch a lift on a local fire engine down Main St. from where he sets down his sleigh and reindeer and will visit with all the local children at the Coulterville Firehouse as part of the Fire Brigade’s Gift Giveaway.

The Coulterville Community Club’s (CCC) Holiday Dinner, featuring ham and turkey and all the trimmings, welcomes everyone from 1:00 P.M. - 4:00 P.M.  This is a great event for everyone from folks who have no local families with which to celebrate the holidays, for friends to get-together and for large, extended families to gather under one very large roof!

The festivities will all be capped off with the Gold Country Singers’ Holiday Concert at 7:00 P.M. at the Methodist Church.  NOTE: (For those who can’t stay in town that late, the Thursday, December 14th dress rehearsal at 6:30 p.m. is open to all... and will also have refreshments!)

Local merchants will have all sorts of great holiday gift items on display to fill in any possible gaps in your busy day.  The Rebekah breakfast is only $5 for adults, $3 for children, with a family package (2 adults/2 children) costing just $15.  The rest of the day’s events are free to everyone, and the entire community is urged to come on out and enjoy the holiday spirit!

12 16 17 Xmas in Coulterville 400Community Support Needed for the CCC Holiday Dinner
The CCC hosts this event, which allows so many folks, from large families with relatives throughout the area to individuals without any local family to enjoy the tastes and camaraderie of the Holidays.  It is only possible because of the generous support of so many in the extended community.  The turkeys, hams, sides and desserts are contributed and prepared by community members using their favorite family recipes.  Even folks who cannot participate contribute, picking an extra ham or turkey up during the “pre” and “post” Thanksgiving sales while doing their own shopping, with willing cooks stepping up to prepare them.

Volunteers are needed to help set-up, serve and clean up.  You don’t have to be a member of the Community Club to participate!  Our “kitchen boss”, Paul Franke will once again keep the kitchen running smoothly, but we need carvers, servers, a clean-up crew and various other helpers.  This is also a great opportunity for teens to pick up some volunteer hours needed for graduation these days.

Please let us know as soon as possible if you will help!

Call Shirley Husted at (209) 852-2100 if you want to volunteer some time with serving, cooking, or donating food items.  If you prefer email send to goldenstatemod@yahoo.com, or drop by and talk to Michelle Coppock at the Gold Country Bistro in downtown Coulterville.

The “shopping list” primarily includes hams, turkeys, breads, and lots of desserts!  We urge all of you great cooks to pull out one of your old family pie or other desert recipes and make something to share with your neighbors and friends.

Christmas Decorating Party: We will be decorating the Old School House on Saturday, December 9th, at 1:00 p.m., everyone is welcome to come down and give us a hand and enjoy some refreshments when we finish.

And be sure and bring your families to Coulterville to enjoy a great day on Saturday, December 16th!
