December 17, 2017 - Teens can learn the art of film making during a series of free workshops at the Mariposa Library. The workshops will be held on Thursdays from 3:00 P.M. to 5:30 P.M. beginning January 4 - February 22, 2018.  All high school students are welcome to attend.

Participants will learn preproduction, field production and post-production techniques including: writing an outline, treatment and story board; lighting, filming and interviewing; and editing. Cameras, lights, editing software and other equipment will be provided.

Student teams will create short films helping to promote local non-profits or Library programs. Various venues will be available for the films to be shown, including a mini-film festival at the Library, on the big-screen TV during Library hours of operation and on CMAC television stations in Fresno and Clovis.

The workshops will be taught by Mariposa High School graduate Rebecca Adams. Adams has an associate’s degree in media and computer science from Columbia College and has produced a number of short films. She is currently a junior at CSU Stanislaus majoring in communications.

To learn more about the program or to register, email karen.dusek@mariposalibrary.org or call the library at (209) 966-2140 and ask for Karen or Rebecca.

The workshops are funded by a grant from the Central Valley Community Foundation and are part of the Library’s Green S.T.E.A.M. Makerspace program.
