March 22, 2018 - The Mariposa County Sheriff's office has sent out a Nixle Alert.

National Weather Service is forecasting significant weather between 1pm and 6pm this afternoon, current models are showing 2-5 inches of rain per hour possible. All of Mariposa County including the Detwiler burn area are in the affected areas. This is significant rain fall combined with lightening/thunder activity.  
 
Mariposa County Unified School District has been notified and are making appropriate arrangements for students to be released immediately. Please contact the school if you have specific questions. 
 
Road conditions can change at anytime so drive safely and watch for water and debris across the roads.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
 
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.
 
Move away from recently burned areas. The heavy rains will likely trigger rockslides, mudslides and debris flows in steep terrain, especially in and around these areas.
