April 19, 2018 - The Mariposa Sheriff’s Search and Rescue Team's 8th annual fundraising dinner, held on March 31, 2018 at the Mariposa County Fairgrounds, was a sold-out success.

Honored with commemorative plaques for their vital contributions to the Search and Rescue Team's continued success were Mariposa Sheriff's Office Captain Chris Ramirez and local restaurant owner Steve Knauf.

Chris Ramirez has 27 years of experience with Mariposa Search and Rescue, beginning in high school and continuing through the years with his service to SAR as a Mariposa Sheriff's Office deputy, Mariposa SAR coordinator Sergeant and Mariposa Sheriff's Office Operations Captain.

Steve Knauf, owner of Steve's Sportsmen's Cafe in Woodland, has a long history of supporting Mariposa Search and Rescue.  For the past few years, Steve has generously insisted upon providing, free of charge, the ribs and linguica that the Lions Club prepares for the Fundraiser Dinner.

Further major contributions to the Mariposa SAR Team's financial support were made by the Mariposa community's generous purchase of raffle prize tickets and the enthusiastic bidding during the cake auction.  A grateful thank you is extended to all 90+ supporters who provided raffle prizes and homemade cakes for the auction.

The Mariposa Search and Rescue Team volunteers greatly appreciate the vital support the Mariposa community provides.  This essential support enables the SAR team to carry out the mission "That Others May Live."
