April 24, 2018 - Caltrans provides an update on Mariposa County highway road closures.

SR-49 from Bear Valley to Coulterville
Progress on this section is not going as quickly as planned and new ETO is early July.
Late season storms have hampered construction after the initial damage occurred. Crews are repairing and rebuilding eroded shoulders and slopes, replacing drains and culverts with sustainable long-term solutions and repairing pavement from the foundation of the road up.

SR-49 from Coulterville to Moccasin
Current ETO is Memorial Day Weekend (earlier if possible). Similar construction is underway and progress is possibly a bit ahead of this schedule. The later storm did not cause any slowdown to progress in this area. Crews are repairing and rebuilding eroded shoulders and slopes, replacing drains and culverts with sustainable long-term solutions and repairing pavement from the foundation of the road up.

SR-132 near Coulterville
Current ETO is Memorial Day Weekend. Crews have excavated the site, replaced the giant culvert (12’ in diameter/100’ long) and are completing cementing in to place and will begin backfilling the gap in the roadway to allow the road to be re-built.

Caltrans will work with their Traffic Management Center to update the Quickmap program to see if they can split the 49 closure in to two separate segments so that the updates are more accurate.
