May 9, 2018 - Bass Lake, CA. - The 4th Annual Yosemite Half Marathon, a race centered around breathtaking Vistas on Forest Service and National Park Lands, will be taking place May 11-12, 2018 on the Bass Lake Ranger District. The event will start yosemite half marathonwith a race expo on Friday May 11, 2018 at Recreation Point.

The race will take place Saturday May 12, 2018, starting from 6:00am and going to 11:30am. The planned course will take runners on fire roads through the Sierra National Forest just north of Bass Lake, then down Beasore Rd and around part of Bass Lake, finishing at Recreation Point. During these hours there will be some 3000 runners on the roads. The road will be closed for the runner’s safety.

North Shore Rd will be open, but can expect heavy runner traffic from The Pines Resort to the Recreation Point Campground. Traffic will continue to operate, but drivers should expect delays. If at all possible, plan to avoid traveling in these areas during these hours. Please follow the detour to North Fork in order to get to Oakhurst, if necessary.

The event coordinators would like to acknowledge in advance any inconvenience this event may cause residents. “This is our fourth year holding this race. We wouldn't be able to create such a wonderful experience for our runners without the support and cooperation of the Bass Lake and Oakhurst community. Without their cooperation it just wouldn’t be possible,” said Director of Race Operations Lyle Anderson. “We really appreciate being allowed to hold this event and help our runners discover, or re-discover, the beauty of the Sierra National Forest and Yosemite National Park!”

The event will bring around 6,000 people to the Bass Lake area over the weekend. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Dehn Craig the Yosemite Half Marathon event director, at (775) 544-1139 or dehn@vacationraces.com .
