Mariposa County December 2014 Unemployment Report Finds 220 Fewer Employed Workers Over December 2013

January 24, 2015 - The Mariposa County December 2014 unemployment rate of 7.6% is 1.5% lower than December 2013 when the rate was 9.1%. During December 2014, 690 residents were unemployed. A drop of 19.8% from December 2013 when 860 residents were unemployed. 

The Leisure and Hospitality industry with 2,100 workers during December 2014 employed 330 less workers (down 13.6%) than during December 2013 when 2,430 workers were in the industry. The Government employed .5% fewer workers during December 2014 (1,890) than in December 2013 when 1,900 people were employed in Government jobs.

The Civilian Labor Force came in at 9,050 during December 2014. The Labor Force decreased by 390 (4.1%)from December 2013 when the Labor Force was at 9,440.

There was a decrease of 220 employees in the county in December 2014 over December 2013 when 8,580 residents were working in the county. That results in a year to year decrease of 2.6%
