SPRING LECTURE SERIES BEGINS
The Northern Mariposa County History Center is once again offering a set of free community lectures this spring, scheduled for the first Saturday afternoon of the month from March through June.

Kicking off the series is: Origins of the California Gravitational Stamp Mill at the IOOF Building, 5030 Main St. Coulterville on Saturday, March 7th, 2015 at 3:00 p.m.

Presenter Ron Loya will share his knowledge and research about California miner’s innovative contributions to the hard rock mining process.  There is no admission charge although donations are appreciated.

BREAKFAST
Enjoy a great breakfast at the Old Schoolhouse on Sunday, March 8th.  Great “all you-can-eat” pancakes, eggs cooked to order, ham or sausage and fresh fruit is served from 8:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.  Adults are $5.00, children $3.00 and a family of four (2 adults, 2 children) is just $15.00.  Fun raffle prizes!  The Old Schoolhouse is located at the corner of Broadway and Cemetery Streets in Coulterville.

CoyoteFest PLANNING BEGINS
Wow, we are already three months into the “new” year and while September might seem far in the future, planning for this year’s CoyoteFest, which includes the 30th anniversary of the Coyote Howl, is getting started this month!  The first meeting is scheduled for Thursday, March 12 at 4:30 at the Old Schoolhouse.  All community organizations are encouraged to send at least one representative.  The success of the recent events is largely due to the expanded roles several local groups have taken on and with more involvement, the CoyoteFest can continue to grow even larger and more fun! If no-one from your organization can attend but would like to be on the contact list, please contact the museum at (209) 878-3015 and leave your name and email address.

DOCENTS ON THE GO
Docents will be traveling north (via carpools) on Saint Patrick’s Day, Tuesday, March 17th to visit the Calaveras County Museum located in San Andreas.  This is one of the gold chain museums participating in the Historic Museum Alliance that NMCHC was instrumental in recently forming.  If you have been thinking about becoming a docent, just a 3-hour monthly commitment, do so now and join the group on this educational adventure. Call (209) 878-3015 and leave a message for docent chair Helen Bauman along with your contact information.
