Ponderosa-Pine-mortality-3-3-15Workshop on Tree Mortality/Morbidity
to be Held on Saturday, April 18

The Forestry and Fuels Management Committee of the Mariposa County Resource Conservation District (MCRCD) is sponsoring a workshop on conifer (pine) tree mortality and oak morbidity.  The workshop will cover practices that a Mariposa County landowner may apply to drought-related conditions:  pine beetle ponderosa tree kills, and apparent oak illness and death.  There will also be a presentation covering State of California regulations governing removal and disposal of wood materials from private land.

The workshop will be held in the Sequoia Hall (Building A) at the Mariposa County Fairgrounds on Saturday, April 18, 2015 from 9 a.m. to 12 noon.  Admission is free however please RSVP by email to Rosalyn Allison at: mcrcd@sti.net to ensure adequate handouts are available for all.

Attendees will be given detailed descriptions of problem causes, measures to be taken to prevent tree loss, problem diagnosis, and measures to be taken if tree death does occur.

Licensed contractors offering brush removal and tree take-down and removal services should submit contact information and license number to the MCRCD at: mcrcd@sti.net, 209-966-3431 or in person at: 5039 Fairgrounds Road.  A list of these will be constructed and handed out at the workshop for those interested.

Inquiries and questions regarding the problems being addressed by the workshop should not be made to the Resource Conservation District office, but should be saved and submitted at the workshop.
