April 18, 2015 - The Mariposa County March 2015 unemployment rate of 9.3% is 2.7% lower than March 2014 when the rate was 12.0%. During March 2015, 700 residents were unemployed. A drop of 23.1% from March 2014 when 910 residents were unemployed.
The Leisure and Hospitality industry with 1,530 workers during March 2015 employed 20 fewer workers (- 1.3%) than during February 2015 when 1,550 workers were in the industry. Compared to March 2014 the Leisure and Hospitality industry employed 70 fewer workers (-4.4%) during February 2015. The Government employed 6.1% more workers during March 2015 (1,910) than in March 2014 when 1,800 people were employed in Government jobs.
Construction employment showed no growth over March 2014 as March 2015 had a total of 140 jobs.
The Civilian Labor Force came in at 7,500 during March 2015. The Labor Force decreased by 130 (-1.7%) from March 2014 when the Labor Force was at 7,630.
There was a increase of 80 employees in the county in March 2015 over March 2014 when 6,720 residents were working in the county. That results in a year to year increase of 1.2%
