April 29, 2015 - On Friday, May 1, 2015  from 10:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. Yosemite National Park will celebrate its annual Law Day on the ball field adjacent to the Yosemite Valley School. This will mark the third year that students from Yosemite and the surrounding area commemorate this special day.

Special speakers and attendees for this year’s ceremonies include:

*Laurie Levenson: Professor of Law at Loyola Law School in Los Angeles, California, will be the keynote speaker. Levenson is a broadly published and widely respected attorney and Director of Loyola’s Project for Innocence. She is a national network TV (CNN, MSNBC, etc.) legal analyst and commentator who has provided legal expertise for several major trials.

*Several robed judges from federal and state benches will be attending the ceremony, including U.S. Magistrate Michael Seng, who presides over the Yosemite court.

*Special guests will be students from the Florin High School Law Academy in Sacramento, California. This special program has helped hundreds of at-risk youth from south Sacramento’s diverse community to gain the education and skills to pursue college attendance and future careers in the legal profession.

The event is part of the commemoration of the 125th anniversary of Yosemite National Park and the 800th Anniversary of the Magna Carta. Over 300 students from in and around the Yosemite area will be at the ceremony.

Yosemite Valley School ball field is located at 9009 Lost Arrow Road in Yosemite Valley (near Yosemite Village). Parking is available onsite.
