Chris Swarth, Director of the Vernal Pools Grasslands Reserve at UC Merced and a Project Scientist for the Natural Reserve System, visited the SFCS 7th and 8th grade classroom recently to talk about amphibians. He brought with him tadpoles, dragonfly, and other larvae that he scooped out of a pond near his home that very morning. Students enjoyed the chance to take a close look at the larvae he brought in and learn more about their various metamorphosis processes.
