On May 8, 2015 Sierra Foothill Charter School 7th and 8th grade students enjoyed a field trip to Mariposa.

First, they ate lunch at Castillos Mexican Restaurant in celebration of the Spanish they've been learning throughout the school year. It also gave them a chance to practice their Spanish!

The students then went to the Mariposa County Courthouse to perform a Civil War military tribunal mock trial they had been researching and practicing. Judge Mike Fagalde told them a bit about the history of the courthouse, watched their performance, and gave them some feedback at the end of their performance. It was a very worthwhile trip!

The trial involved a major who ran a prison during the Civil War, the prisoners, the prison guards, and civilians who came into the prison and witnessed events. There were plenty of parts for all the students!
