Public Health, Office of Emergency Services and Supervisor Smallcombe are among the presenters
May 30, 2015 - On Saturday, June 6, at 9:00 a.m. in the Mariposa Room of the Human Services Building, the Upper Merced River Watershed Council will host a learning program focused on water.
Due to the severe nature and length of the drought, water is a concern for many. Wells and springs are running dry, and the new Public Health water tank program is already being used by citizens. The Learning Program will discuss with the community how their wells work, water quality issues, what options there are if a well has a problem, affordable conservation tools, and how Mariposa is impacted, if at all, by the new State rules on groundwater and conservation.
The speakers will be Dave Conway, Director, Environmental Health Division, Mariposa County Public Health Department, Regina Hirsch, Principal at Sierra Watershed Progressive, Rosemarie Smallcombe, District 1 Supervisor, Don Florence, Emergency Planner, Mariposa County Office of Emergency Services and Holly Warner, member of the Upper Merced River Watershed Council and the Mariposa-Yosemite Regional Water Advisory Council.
There will be a group breakout session at the end of the meeting where community members can get more detailed questions answered.
This Community Learning Program on Water is free and all interested members of the public are invited to attend.
Light snacks, coffee and tea will be provided.
The Human Services Building is located at 5362 Lemee Lane, just off HWY. 49 North after the old Mariposa Family Practice building.
