Dr. Lisa Carisio of Carisio Chiropractic Institute came to Sierra Foothill Charter School last week and provided scoliosis screenings for 5th through 8th graders. The screenings included a simple forward-bending test in which the child bends forward from the waist, arms hanging loosely, and palms touching and the examiner looks for unevenness in the child's back or ribs. A scoliometer can be used to measure and estimate the rotation of the spinal column.
