A majority of the new lightning-sparked wildfires are relatively small, with the largest being 4 acres. Today nearly 3,000 firefighters remain on the frontlines of five large active wildfires burning in California.
A Red Flag Warning is still in effect for Modoc Counties due to high heat, strong winds and the possibility of dry thunderstorms with lightning.
While all residents are urged to be cautious outdoors to prevent sparking a wildfire, those in the Red Flag Warning area must take extra precautions.
