Yosemite-Park-Ranger-Christine-Raines-smThe Oakhurst Library will be hosting Park Ranger Christine Raines on Saturday, August 23rd.  This event will be held in the Library’s Community Room and it will be from 10:30 a.m. to Noon.

Each species lives a different story depending on the land which they inhabit.  The audience will learn how the animals have adapted to foothill conditions and Christine will instruct her audience on how to stay safe surrounded by wildlife.  She will bring objects such as skins and skulls to demonstrate her subject.

The animals Christine will include are bobcats, mountain lions, raccoons, mule deer, coyotes, gray squirrels, Steller’s jays, field mice, rattlesnakes and black bears, along with discussing some of Yosemite’s sensitive species such as peregrine falcons, red fox and pacific fishers.

Christine is an education park ranger in Yosemite National Park where she provides curriculum-based programs known as “Parks as Classrooms” to students of all ages. Her programs are designed to provide students with an engaging learning experience along with the opportunity to experience nature as the ultimate classroom.
