July 2, 2015 - At about 11:00 P.M. on Wednesday Evening, July 1, 2015 Madera County Sheriff Deputies were dispatched to the north shore of Bass Lake, near the Pines Resort, for reports of a boating accident. Deputies learned that there was an unresponsive male in the water with someone yelling for help.

A local resident had heard cries for help and took his boat out into the lake to see if he could assist. He found two males in the water, one of them unresponsive and the other trying to provide aid. The two males were loaded onto the boat and were taken to a dock near the Pines Resort where Deputies and Sierra Ambulance personnel attempted to revive the victim. Resuscitation efforts were unsuccessful and the accident victim was pronounced deceased at the scene. The victim has been identified as 14 year old Kyle Farr of Los Gatos.

Preliminary investigation has revealed that the victim and his 18 year old friend were riding their personal watercraft in the lake when the 14 year old victim struck a moored pontoon boat and was ejected into the water. The investigation will continue to determine what factors contributed to the collision. An autopsy has been scheduled for later today.
